How Trail Finder works

Find mountain bike trails that are new to you and ride them when the dirt is just right. The Sport button on the map switches to Skiing, Hunting, Fishing, Adventure moto or Hiking.

🚵 MTB

• Search a trail, a town or Near me, then pick how new. Any shows every trail, old or new.
• Prime loam means damp, grippy dirt right now. The 🔔 tells you when a trail you saved turns prime.
• Tap a trail for its difficulty, weather, loam, rider reports and how to get there.
• ▶ Ride (Ride tab) follows you on the map and records your ride. Use 🔒 Pocket rather than locking the phone.
• ▶ Ride this trail (in a trail's details) guides you to it and buzzes if you leave it.
• ✎ Plan a route (Ride tab): tap the trails you want in order, then ▶ Ride it. ⋯ More has Shuttle, GPX and Save.
• ☀ Where to ride today (Find) shows the best spots now, with ready-made loops from a parking lot.
• 📷 Which trail is this? (next to Search) names the trail in a photo, screenshot or short video.
• 💬 Ask in plain words (Find): type what you want, like “easy loop near Squamish”.
• Colours: green, blue, black, red (double black), orange (pro line). Dashed = estimated level, dotted = unofficial.

⛷ Skiing

• Touring, Nordic, Snowmobile, Resorts: the four buttons pick what's on the map.
• Avalanche card: today's forecast where you're looking. ⚠ Avalanche risk and Slope angle (Layers) colour the steep ground.
• Tap a route for its profile, steepness, weather and avalanche light: Normal caution, Extra caution or Not recommended. 🔔 Watch it to hear when that changes.
• Tap anywhere for “This spot”: snow that fell, snow coming and the week's weather.
• ✎ Plan a tour, ▶ Record a tour or ▶ Follow this tour from a route.
• Huts: tap one for booking, beds and price. 🏕 Plan a cabin trip here works out the way in and each day's conditions.
• Resorts: lift status, webcams, slackcountry and freeride lines (named chutes, couloirs and faces). 🚁 Heli and cat skiing and ⛰ Backcountry areas cover all of Canada.
• It helps you plan; it doesn't replace avalanche training, the full forecast on avalanche.ca, or what you see on the day.

🦌 Hunting

• Tap the map for the zone, what's open today, draws, and whether it's Crown land, private, a park or a no-shooting town.
• Wind and light: the orange cone shows where your scent goes. The light card has legal light, sun, moon and ⏰ alarms.
• Top buttons: My spot, Save a point, My hunts, Mark my truck and Back to truck, Track.
• 📍 Drop pin marks a trail cam, tracks, a saline and more. Saved can show only the tags you pick.
• Compass turns the map with your phone. ◎ Range drops a pin at the distance you ranged.
• Layers: Crown land, Property lines, forest types, burns, wetlands and slope.
• My hunts keeps your harvests and tracked hunts, and shows what works.
• A guide, not the law: always check your province's hunting regulations.

🎣 Fishing

• Tap a lake, river or the sea for its rules, fish, stocking, river flow and tides.
• Where to fish today ranks the water near you by fresh stocking and good flow.
• Conditions: wind, pressure, moon, a bite forecast, hatches and what bait to use.
• ↗ Route (on a spot) finds the easiest walk in, from the road or from you.
• Lake depth lines and depth charts are in Layers.
• Save a catch with a photo. The Fishing log shows what works for you. Your catches stay private.

🏍 Adventure moto

• Pick your bike first: roads turn green (fine for it), orange (hard) or red (not for it).
• Tap a road for its surface, mud today, the rules and the nearest gas.
• Plan a route: tap stops and pick Most dirt, Mix or Paved. It checks gas range and closures, then ▶ Ride it speaks each turn.
• ADV routes: classic adventure routes across Canada that suit your bike.
• Check-in alarm rings if you stop moving, then offers to text your contact where you are.

🥾 Hiking

• Zoom in to a valley or town: its hiking trails show, coloured by grade (green easy, blue moderate, orange hard, red expert).
• Tap a hike for its length, heights, time, the snow at its top today, the park and pass it needs, and closures and wildfires nearby.
• Today ranks the hikes near you: snow-free first, then snow up high, then closed or warned.
• Layers: trailheads and parking, huts and campsites, viewpoints, water, slope angle. Tap one for the hikes from it.
• Plan: tap points on the map and the route follows the trails, with climb, time and snow at the top. Save it, follow it or send it as a GPX file.
• Snow line shows how high the snow comes down in the next 3 days.
• ☆ Save hikes for later. Start hike records your track in My hikes.

Every sport

• On phones, the tabs at the bottom are Map, Find, Ride, Saved and More. ← Back goes back one step.
• Layers (on the map): clouds, smoke, 🌧 radar, wildfires, forest roads, map style and more. ⛰ 3D sits next to it.
• ⤓ Offline maps (Ride tab) saves an area for when there's no signal.
• 📡 Share my live location (Ride tab or More) lets friends follow you on a map.
• Sign in (More) to keep your saved trails, routes and rides on every device.
• Most trails come from OpenStreetMap, so check local rules and closures before you go.
